This past weekend Gold Ice Novice and Open travelled to “la belle province” for the 2015 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships.
The stands at Pavillion de la Jeunesse were filled with a support section of friends and family, making it feel like a home event for the 33 skaters representing Skate Canada Brampton Chinguacousy.
Gold Ice Novice started the weekend off with a visit to the Ice Hotel. A tad chilly, but filled with beautifully sculpted rooms, the girls felt like they had stepped into Elsa’s castle. Touring around Old Quebec helped set the tone for the their “Paris” themed program and the skaters were excited to take the audience on a journey.
Once hitting the ice, the skaters laid down two of their best skates of the season. With a total score of 79.09 Gold Ice Novice finished in 6th place overall, their best placement at nationals in 6 years. This team has come a long way this season and are excited to get back on the ice in preparation for the 2015-2016 season.
Heading into the 2015 season with 5 national medals to their name, Gold Ice Open was excited to show off their beautiful Audrey Hepburn tribute program one last time. Skating to near perfection in their first skate they were in 2nd place heading into the final skate. Overcoming a few bobbles in the second skate, Gold Ice was awarded the bronze medal overall.
Thanks goes out to all team managers, volunteers, and supporters that helped make this season a resounding success. There would be no Gold Ice without all that you do!
This weekend Gold Ice Beginner 2, Elementary, Juvenile, and Adult 3 head to Innisfil to finish out their successful season at March Mania.
Stay tuned for audition information for the 2015-2016 season!
