2016 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating National Championships

Posted: Feb 18, 2016

Gold Ice Novice and Open are excited to be heading to Waterloo this weekend to compete in the 2016 Skate Canada Synchronized Skating National Championships. The Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex will be host to approximately 800 skaters on 40 teams competing for national titles in the Novice, Intermediate, Open, Junior, and Senior categories. The top two Senior teams will also earn berths to the 2016 ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships which will be held in Budapest, Hungry.

In addition to some fantastic skating, there will be two Skate Canada Hall of Fame induction ceremonies held honouring leaders in the sport of Synchronized Skating. On Friday night, Cathy Dalton will be honoured for her dedication to the sport as an innovator, coach, technical specialist, and mentor. Following the Open event on Saturday, the 2009 Nexxice Senior team will be inducted into the hall of fame for their achievements as the very first Canadian team to win a World Championship. Gold Ice is very proud of our very own Coach Ashley Andrejek who was a member of this team and will be receiving this great honour on Saturday afternoon.

We are thrilled that this years event is being held so close to home and both our Novice and Open skaters are looking forward to skating in front of their friends, family and supporters. We know the Gold Ice cheering section will be loud and proud!
