Gold Ice heads to Winterfest

Posted: Jan 5, 2016

While the holiday season usually means relaxing with friends and family (including many delicious meals) for Gold Ice skaters it is training season! After several weeks of hard work and long hours at the rink (with a couple days off to enjoy some turkey), our skaters are excited to show off their progress!

This weekend, five of our teams are heading to the Hershey Centre in Mississauga to compete in the 2016 Winterfest and World Junior Challenge Cup Qualifier competition. With teams traveling from across Canada, the US, and even Australia to compete, Winterfest is one of the largest competitions of the season for skaters.

Gold Ice teams competing this weekend include: Juvenile, Novice, Open, Adult 3 and Eclipse Adult 1. The rest of our skaters are also excited for this competition as Gold Ice is hosting the event and will be in attendance cheering and volunteering throughout the weekend.

If you are in the area we encourage you to come out and show your support for the Gold Ice teams. This is also a unique opportunity to see some of the top skaters in the country as the Junior teams are competing for the chance to represent Canada at the 2016 ISU World Challenge Cup in Zagreb, Croatia.
