Gold Ice Rocks at Winterfest!

Posted: Jan 17, 2013

After 2 hard working weeks of holiday boot camp, Gold Ice was ready to take the ice at Iceland in Mississauga for the 2013 Winterfest competition. A smaller venue meant for jam packed stands of fans and the atmosphere was electric!

Gold Ice Novice had a few bobbles in each skate but came away with a personal best score in the second skate. They are motivated and excited for Regionals.

Next to compete was the Intermediate team with newly ‘blinged out’ dresses. The girls had two consistent skates and finished in a very respectable 6th out of 12 teams. With their eyes set on the Regional podium the team is already back and working hard to acheive big goals this season.

Finally the Gold Ice Open team finished off the weekend with a bronze medal performance.

Shout out to Gold Ice Beginner 2 and Elementary who came out to cheer their hearts out for all of our teams. Gold Ice had one of the best cheering sections of the weekend! Thank you to all our parent volunteers and supporters for your continuous hard work and dedication towards Gold Ice.

Special congrats to Nexxice and Les Supremes Junior who qualified at Winterfest for the 2013 ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships to be held in Finland this March. It was a well fought battle as all four junior teams are extremely strong this season. You will represent Canada well!

With a few weeks left till Regionals in Newmarket, Gold Ice Novice, Intermediate and Open will have simulations this weekend while the Elementary team continues to work hard towards success at their second competition. The Adult 3 team will make their debut at Regionals and Gold Ice Beginner 2 looks forward to their first competition at Synchro Capers in Oakville.

Great work Gold Ice!
