Golden weekend for Gold Ice in Oakville!

Posted: Jan 29, 2014

It was a golden weekend for the Gold Ice Synchronized Skating Teams. Competing in the 2014 Synchro Capers competition at Sixteen Mile Arena in Oakville, Gold Ice turned heads and found huge success bringing home one bronze and three gold medals. Coach Andrea Clement states that this is the most successful weekend for Gold Ice in the past 5 years.

The Beginner 2 team (ages 6 to 12) jumped back from second place in their first skate to take the gold medal for the second competition in a row.

Gold Ice Elementary (ages 10 to 14) skated a very fast ‘Race Car Driver’ themed program to take a gigantic lead also bringing home the gold.

The Novice team (ages 11 to 18) were crowd favourites, entertaining the judges with their ‘Saturday Morning Cartoons’ number and just narrowly edged out the hometown team to win the bronze medal.

Finally Gold Ice Adult 3, a team including several coaches from SCBC, made a smashing competitive debut this season winning gold.

Gold Ice is feeling very confident heading into next weekends Central Regionals competition in Waterloo. The Novice and Open teams will then head to Burnaby, BC to compete in the 2014 Skate Canada National Synchronized Skating Championships.
