Gold Ice started off the competitive season with a bang this past weekend at the Bill Phillips Memorial Competition in Stratford, ON.
In total, Gold Ice won 4 medals: two bronze and two gold.
In 5th place after the first skate, the Elementary team came from behind to win the bronze medal. They are looking forward to a very successful season.
The 2015 Ontario Regional Juvenile Champions held nothing back and had two extremely strong performances to defend their Bill Phillips title. It was a very solid gold medal win and the audience was rocking! The Juvenile team is looking forward to Winterfest and competing against teams from across the country.
Next up was the Novice team with their “Wedding” themed program. The team skated a very fast and entertaining program and definitely turned heads. Finishing second in the first skate, the Novice team won the bronze medal overall – behind second place by just 0.15 points. They cannot wait to continue working hard and improving the program for Winterfest.
Gold Ice Open had a solid gold medal win with a whole lot of sass and attitude in their “Bad Girls” themed program. They will also be heading to Winterfest in January to compete against teams from across the country.
On Sunday, it was time for our two Adult teams to compete.
Adult 1 “Eclipse” came back from a few errors in their first skate to place 4th overall. The crowd loved their 90s themed program featuring all the favourite ‘Precision Skating’ elements from the 90s.
And finally, the Adult 3 team showed perseverance by coming back from a bit of a rough first skate to have a very clean, and solid second skate. They placed 10th overall and are already looking forward to working hard on their program in preparation for Winterfest.
Coming up next for Gold Ice: Winterfest for our Juvenile, Novice, Open, Adult 1, and Adult 3 teams at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga January 8th to 10th. The Gold Ice Synchronized Skating Teams will be hosting this competition and are looking forward to seeing some great skating!
Our Beginner 2 and Elementary teams are excited to compete at Synchro Capers in Oakville at the end of January.
