Posted: Feb 1, 2016

All 7 Skate Canada Brampton Chinguacousy teams headed to Oakville this past weekend to compete in the 2016 Synchro Capers competition. All 7 teams came home with some hardware!

What a weekend it was for Gold Ice!

Kicking off the medal haul was the Gold Ice Beginner 2 team. This was their first competition of the season and this very young team didn’t let any jitters get in the way. Two very solid and strong skates landed them on the podium with a bronze medal out of 10 teams!

The Elementary team has been working incredibly hard since their first competition to make some upgrades and improvements to their party girls program. Their efforts paid off in a very big way when they earned the bronze medal overall out of 17 teams!

Our Juvenile Rockers were excited to put on a performance at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex this weekend. In a very close event, they rocked the audience and the judging panel and finished on the podium with the silver medal.

Next up was the Novice team who have just come off of a strong top 4 finish at Winterfest. A few mistakes held them back from achieving their personal best scores, but their performances were enough to win the silver medal overall. The team is already back at the rink working hard with big goals for Regionals and Nationals.

The Open team had some difficulties in the first skate which they were determined to overcome. In their final skate of the weekend they were able to do their Bad Girls program justice with a fantastic performance. The team achieved one of their highest scores of the season are are looking forward to continuing to make strides forward.

Gold Ice Adult 3 took to the ice next and had a very strong first skate. An even better second skate with a personal best score vaulted them to a silver medal win overall out of 11 teams. This team has made huge improvements since the start of the season when they finished 10th at Bill Phillips. Way to go!

Finally Eclipse Adult 1 was excited to pump up the crowd with their 90’s themed program. ¬†Another vastly improved team since the start of the season, they had two personal best skates and won the gold medal!

Next up for Gold Ice: All 7 teams will again be traveling together, this time to Kingston for the 2016 Central Regional Synchronized Skating Championships February 12th to 14th. Best of luck!
